Welcome to my 2016 Christmas Home Tour! I didn’t participate in any group home tours this time around, because this year has been crazy and this season has been particularly hectic. Instead, I decided to ditch the pre-planned color schemes, over-styled vignettes, and just decorate in a slow and organic manner, only including things that I love. It was such a relief to not have to meet any deadlines, and to take my time putting together our Christmas decor for the first holiday in our home. I spread it out over a few weekends, and really enjoyed pulling it all together! However, before we moved earlier this year, I decided to get rid of the majority of my Christmas decor. Enter: At Home! I had so much fun shopping for new pieces that I will cherish for years to come. Instead of going with trendy or color-specific pieces this year, I chose items that really say “Christmas” to me. Nick jokingly referred to our tree as “Ralph Lauren chic”, which I neither disagree with nor am upset about. Let’s get started, shall we? Max is here and ready to greet you!
I chose some items that jumped out at me to decorate our built-ins with- things that didn’t scream “CHRISTMAS” right at first, but that I could leave up for the winter season. I picked up this cute warmer from At Home, and immediately popped a few spruce wax tarts in it to melt- and it smells heavenly!
One of my favorite things about the holidays are all of the cards we get in the mail. I love seeing the photos and reading what everyone we love has been up to the past year, and I love to keep them on display throughout the holidays. This year, I chose some simple ribbon from At Home, and looped it around a cabinet in our built-ins to hold all of the cards.
It also wouldn’t be Christmas without a decked-out bar, right? I layered a few of my favorite garlands on my Mintwood Home bar cart, and put out a few of the season’s necessities: pretty straws, gold-rimmed coupe glasses, and cute cocktail napkins (champs is chilling in the fridge; come on over?)
In the entry, I kept it light and bright, without too much decor. A few taper candles, some white faux berries, and my favorite magnolia garland wrapped around the mirror.
I am really loving the super traditional tree this year. The mix of finishes on the red ornaments might be my favorite part!
And, of course, I loved decking out our new fireplace mantel.
(PS- these little trees and houses have mini LED candles inside that twinkle at night!)
Since it’s not a working fireplace, I got to fill the inside with stacks of presents instead!
Max says thank you for stopping by!
I hope that you and yours have a fantastic Christmas if you celebrate! Happy Holidays- make sure to spread kindness, savor the season, and spend each moment with people you love!
