Life has been super crazy lately. I have some exciting news that I hope to share with you soon (nope, still not that, Mom), and I have barely had a second to breathe. Do you ever have so much work to do that you let it pile up, getting bigger and bigger (and more difficult to finish)? That was me and my e-mail inbox this past weekend. It’s times like these that I’m usually feeling my least creative, which is not a chance I can take in the design industry.
So, I forced myself to take a much-needed break from work, get my creative juices flowing, and relax all at the same time. My solution? Coloring!
I went to Michaels and picked up a handful of Prismacolor pencils in gorgeous colors, intent on filling the pages of the adult coloring book that I picked up last month (if you follow my on Snapchat, you might have seen it- scsmith012). Instead, I found a pretty and simple black and white print in a frame. I snagged it immediately.
I came home, and pulled out all of my favorite things that are usually involved when I am relaxing: prosecco and a yummy candle (Henri Bendel “Black Currant”).
I decided to stick with a Pantone Color of the Year palette, with a pop of chartreuse.
I played some music, sipped on my Prosecco, and colored away. At first, it felt like it was going to take forever to finish the art, but before I knew it, I was almost finished and wishing I had purchased several more pieces. Good thing Michaels has free pages that you can print so you can color to your heart’s content- click here and select “free pages” to download your own free Prismacolor coloring pages!
I decided to display the finished print in my office, so that if I’m ever feeling overwhelmed again, it will hopefully remind me that I can handle it (and if not, there’s always Prosecco + coloring).
I’d love to know how you relax when you feel overwhelmed with work! Does it involve Prosecco? 😉
I would HIGHLY recommend coloring as a form of relaxation, if you haven’t tried it already. There are so many adorable coloring books (next on my list is this one #noshame). Make sure to check out Michaels coupons for additional savings, in newspapers and online! They are so great about coupons- I was able to use one on the pencils, and they have gorgeous markers, too. So, go on- how do you relax?
