I have loved Saarinen tulip tables for as long as I can remember. I love how modern and chic they look in so many different rooms. Every time I pop into an antique or thrift store, or any time I’m perusing Craigslist, I repeat in my head “I WILL find a tulip table, I WILL find a tulip table”, but it seems like The Secret hasn’t worked for me so far. And trust me, it’s not for lack of desire!
These beautiful tables were originally designed by Eero Saarinen, an architect from Finland who designed the St. Louis Arch. You can definitely see the similarities in the design- it’s very retro and futuristic at the same time. Here are a few of my favorite images of this stunning table!

I also love these cage chairs paired with the table.

This is one of my favorite images ever. I love the cantilever chairs (If you follow me on Instagram, you know I scored a similar set on Craigslist)!

Here is the marble side table version.
Since the original Saarinen is out of my budget right now (the side tables start at about $700 and go up from there), I have been sourcing similar options at a more reasonable price. I found two options from CB2 and Ikea in the larger size for a much better price of $199!

I’ve long loved the Docksta table from Ikea, and I really see it as one of their staple items. I also lean more towards this one because I feel that the proportions are much more in-line with the original.

So what do you think of this classic piece of furniture? I love that it meshes with so many different aesthetics so beautifully. Hopefully I will add one of these to my collection soon!
