This post is a.k.a. “SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME HOW WE’RE HALFWAY DONE WITH THIS, OKAY”. I’m only kind of joking, because I’ve done this enough to know that I am still at that point where I can kid myself and say “there’s plenty of time left” or “we’re only halfway through!” or some BS like that when I really know that it’s time to get it together, for real.
I made some big decisions this week, and I actually set a plan into action, so I guess that’s something. I haven’t actually begun (let alone finished) any of the major projects that need to happen in this space, so I have to clear the calendar for the next three weeks and get to work. That said, I did make all of the major decisions for the room, which, if you followed for the last two posts, should be considered quite a feat. Here’s what I have so far…a plan.
this is my bedroom in its current state, unwrapped yoga mat, wrinkly bed skirt, and all.
The vintage Henredon campaign chests are in the space, and have been put to good use. And pretty much everything else you see in this picture is going: new bed, lamps, art, bedding, and art are coming atcha ASAP.
This is my side of the room, and it consists of a shallow closet and a pocket door that leads to another walk-in closet and the bathroom. It’s not…pretty, to put it kindly.
However, I have big plans for this space that involve a pile of Metrie moulding, a custom cut mirror, and a lashing of “Railings” by Farrow & Ball.
At the foot of the bed, we have a bit of a situation. Since I work from a studio and at home during the week, I need a place to store things like my printer, samples, files, and a spot for my computer. This IKEA desk has been really great and functional, but I’m finding that this wall is super crammed with furniture and it makes the space feel smaller and not productive. We need a high boy dresser and a “lighter” desk, and I need to get rid of the gold shelf (which is basically just holding stuff I don’t use, anyway).
you can see where we’ve taped off to measure for architectural moulding in the space here.
The pieces for this wall are TBD, although I’ve narrowed down the style and feel that I’m going for. But I have plenty of time left, right?!
Here’s what else has arrived:
So many of you sent me messages and e-mails or left comments about the Threshold mushroom lamps from Target to tell me your local store still had them- lucky! I called all of the ones in our area, including one that a lovely reader (thanks, Ellyn!) mentioned was close by (an hour-ish away), and they said they had all been clearanced out and were no longer in the store. Now, there could have been a spare lamp or two floating around the store, but I didn’t want to drive all over the place tracking them down. So, on a whim, I hit up eBay and found two brand new Threshold lamps, still in the box, for $35.99 each shipped. Um, sold.
I also received the rug for the space, this stunner from Annie Selke:
So, that’s it for Week Three! Did you miss the last two posts? Catch up here:
And make sure to follow along on Wednesdays with the fab line-up of designers that Linda is featuring! Catch you on the flip side, when hopefully I have painted walls and some of my sanity remaining.
